Paria Outdoors recharge UL insulated pad Review

We recently received the recharge directly from the manufacturer in conjuction with their newest thermodown 15F 700 fill quilt.

Paria Outdoors broke into the market last year with a new trekking pole design simulating some aspects of black Diamond z poles. A tri-fold design adjustable to 135cm. While innitially they had some quality control problems, they quickly overcame the issue with a 5 star customer service. Since then, they expanded their market into shelters( tents and tarps), sleeping bags/quilts and other accesories;  creating a big competition among other alike manufacturers like klymit.

The recharge is a 3 season pad with an R-value of 3.5 weighting 20 ounces packed retailing for only $69.

Full specs:

  • Size: 72 x 20 inches, tapered design to minimize weight
  • Thickness: 2.5 inches
  • Weight: 20 ounces
  • Estimated R-value: 3.5
  • Material: 40 Denier TPU diamond rip-stop nylon
  • Insulation: Laminated 90g/m2 synthetic microfiber
  • Packed size: 7 x 4 inches
  • Includes: sleeping pad, rip-stop nylon stuff sack, repair kit (patches and adhesive)

While there is other available pads in the market, what makes the recharge stand out is the design, packability regardless of weight and insulation delivery.

We tested the pad below freezing conditions using a 20F sleeping bag. The pad itself comes with a patch system included in case of punctures and packs down to 7 x 4 inches in the provided sack.

Horizontal laminated microfiber insulated baffles creates a  non slippery surface with a large two way flat valve. The valve features an internal built-in flap to prevent deflation while inflating.

As we got into the tent near feezing conditions the pad provided instant warmth to our tester and sustain insulation down to 28F.

The tapered design inflates quickly with roughly 10 blows and fits perfectly inside any mummy sleeping bag.

One of the best features in our opinion is how easy deflates and packs. Other pads need to be rolled twice in order to fit the included sack. The recharge to the contrary, takes one roll and fold to be done.

With 2.5 inches of loft the recharge provides a super comfy base sleep system for any type of sleeper.

Overall while is not the higuest r value or the lightest pad you will find, at $69 with the features mention above,  is a must have among budget hikers looking for a good rest.
